DECLARACIÓN DEL INSTITUTO CUBANO DE AMISTAD CON LOS PUEBLOS (ICAP)

El Instituto Cubano de Amistad con los Pueblos (ICAP) expresa su más enérgica condena a los ataques militares conjuntos perpetrados en el día de hoy por Estados Unidos e Israel contra la República Islámica de Irán. Esta acción bélica, constituye una flagrante violación del Derecho Internacional y de la Carta de las Naciones Unidas, quebrantando de manera brutal la soberanía e integridad territorial de la nación persa y la frágil estabilidad regional.
Esta nueva agresión, que ha causado centenares de víctimas mortales y heridos —incluyendo el ataque contra una escuela primaria femenina en la provincia de Minab—, así como cuantiosos daños materiales en al menos 24 provincias del país, demuestra el absoluto desprecio de las potencias agresoras por la vida humana y por los mecanismos multilaterales de solución pacífica de controversias.
Resulta particularmente grave y revelador que este ataque se produzca apenas un día después de que concluyera en Ginebra una nueva ronda de conversaciones sobre el programa nuclear iraní, conversaciones que, según los propios mediadores, habían registrado “avances significativos”. Al lanzar esta ofensiva, Estados Unidos e Israel han dinamitado de forma deliberada la vía diplomática y han optado por la imposición unilateral de sus designios a través de la fuerza bruta, desoyendo los llamamientos de la comunidad internacional a favor de una solución negociada.
Las declaraciones emitidas por los líderes de Washington y Tel Aviv resultan igualmente alarmantes y demuestran la naturaleza mezquina e ilegal de sus intereses. El presidente Donald Trump justificó la operación con el objetivo explícito de lograr un “cambio de régimen” e instó al pueblo iraní a una guerra civil para derrocar al actual gobierno, mientras que Benjamín Netanyahu expresó su aspiración de “eliminar la amenaza existencial” que alega supone la nación persa para el régimen sionista. Estas proclamas constituyen una injerencia inaceptable en los asuntos internos de un Estado soberano y merecen el repudio de la comunidad internacional.
Expresamos nuestra firme solidaridad con el pueblo iraní, así como con todas las víctimas inocentes de esta irresponsable maniobra militar imperialista. Asimismo, reafirmamos nuestro compromiso inclaudicable con la defensa del multilateralismo y la solución pacífica de los conflictos, tal como consagra la Carta de las Naciones Unidas. Exigimos a los mecanismos e instituciones internacionales competentes para la resolución de conflictos actúen en correspondencia y frenen a los responsables de esta barbarie.
La paz mundial no puede estar supeditada a los intereses geopolíticos de quienes, haciendo caso omiso al derecho, pretenden imponer su hegemonía mediante la destrucción y la muerte.

STATEMENT FROM THE CUBAN INSTITUTE OF FRIENDSHIP WITH THE PEOPLES (ICAP)

The Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) expresses its strongest condemnation of the joint military attacks perpetrated today by the United States and Israel against the Islamic Republic of Iran. This warlike action constitutes a flagrant violation of International Law and the Charter of the United Nations, brutally breaching the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Persian nation and the fragile regional stability.
This new aggression, which has caused hundreds of deaths and injuries — including the attack on an elementary school for girls in the province of Minab — as well as extensive material damage in at least 24 provinces of the country, demonstrates the absolute contempt of the aggressor powers for human life and for the multilateral mechanisms for the peaceful resolution of disputes.
It is particularly serious and revealing that this attack occurs barely one day after a new round of talks on the Iranian nuclear program concluded in Geneva, talks which, according to the mediators themselves, had seen “significant progress.” By launching this offensive, the United States and Israel have deliberately dynamited the diplomatic path and have chosen to unilaterally impose their designs through brute force, ignoring the calls of the international community for a negotiated solution.
The statements issued by the leaders of Washington and Tel Aviv are equally alarming and demonstrate the petty and illegal nature of their interests. President Donald Trump justified the operation with the explicit objective of achieving “regime change” and urged the Iranian people to engage in a civil war to overthrow the current government, while Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his aspiration to “eliminate the existential threat” he claims the Persian nation poses to the Zionist regime. These proclamations constitute unacceptable interference in the internal affairs of a sovereign state and deserve the repudiation of the international community.
We express our firm solidarity with the Iranian people, as well as with all the innocent victims of this irresponsible imperialist military maneuver. Likewise, we reaffirm our unwavering commitment to the defense of multilateralism and the peaceful solution of conflicts, as enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations. We demand that the competent international mechanisms and institutions for conflict resolution act accordingly and stop those responsible for this barbarism.
World peace cannot be subject to the geopolitical interests of those who, ignoring the law, seek to impose their hegemony through destruction and death.
