Cubans in the UK sent a donation of 144,000 syringes to Cuba to support of the mass vaccination campaign in our country. To support the clinical trials of the vaccine candidate Mambisa, 200 nasal secretion collectors were also sent a few days before.
These donations were possible thanks to contributions from individuals and solidarity groups in Britain and elsewhere.
Cubans in the UK opened a fundraising campaign to support vaccination efforts in Cuba last March. Despite the difficulties caused by the closure of the two initial crowdfunding platforms – JustGiving and CrowdfunderUK – due to the extraterritorial application of the criminal US blockade against Cuba, solidarity and friendship prevailed.
Cubans in the UK will continue to contribute to Cuba’s effort to protect the population from Covid-19. Please give whatever you can – no amount is too small. More info here: www.support-vaccination.org
Nasal sample collectors arrive at the Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology for use in the Mambisa clinical trials.
